New events are cool, but i think this watermelon seeds need to be effected by droprate to make them easier to farm.
The dropchance might be low (3%), but what makes you think they would not be affected by increases to droprate?
Speaking to a lot of people that have seen 0 increase from buffing to over over 500% drop rate. Recieving 2-3 in 40mins full drop buffs seems unrealistic.
(What we know: "GlobalDrop" is the main table (or rather, a specific loot table ID is called this) for global drops. It contains the drop tables for event specific items, which in turn contain the items themselves.)
(Logic: GlobalDrop contains the table with event items for Melon Event with 5%, table for Melon Event contains Scarlet and Strange Seed with 60% and 40% respectively.)
Two possibilities:
either:
- GlobalDrop is applied as a guaranteed table akin to a 200% loot table from any instance boss that then contains the actual loot divided up by percentages. This can technically be modified by droprate% but the result will be the same regardless, it does not get better than "guaranteed to be chosen". "GlobalDrop guaranteed" stays guaranteed regardless if you buff the guarantee by a factor of 5 since the amount will always be 1. Actual Droprate for the items still sits at 5%*60% / 5*40% (3% and 2% respectively).
- GlobalDrop is applied directly with its content and droprate% would affect the IDs it contains. The logic is the same but in this case droprate% would affect the 5% of the event table and turn it into 25% (with 500% increased droprate%) , becoming 25%*60% (Scarlet) / 25%*40% (Strange) aka 15% / 10%
After a bit of brainstorming on IRC it's still not entirely clear how it works but there IS a possibility that the droprate buffs simply can not (practically) apply in this case. We just don't know for sure.
