    legacy support has been removed for older operating systems by microsoft .

    you will have to have use windows ten to run steam . next year it will stop too.


    when you log into steam on an older operating system it will lock the machine up .

    when you reload steam it still wont work .


    no matter how many times you confirm you email it will still show the account email as .

    Enter the code from your email adress at univesmail.com .

    no you havent been hacked no steams account system hasnt been hacked thats an old default .


    wish me luck moving my steam account to windows ten as i was also having problems doing even that .

    microsoft - if it doesnt spam you with ads we will remove it .no it cant run like a real machine .

    it has to have apps with adds and cant have a real start menu program list because we are greedy and do not care about you or what you think . yes all machines will use bandwidth at startup . so we can spam you and drag the internet down .

    first of all: this is the wrong place for a steam topic... maybe try the steam forum?


    second: windows 7 is more than 15 years old... microsoft itself has ended the support back than in 2015 and didn't even provide security patches since 2020... using an old OS like that in the internet is an open invitation for hacker and scammer to get your data. so just care about your pc/your data and update the OS BEFORE the lifecycle ends, then you won't have the problem that a app like steam have to tell you that your OS is way too old. (kinda nice move from steam btw... helping people to help themselves)

    its a post to let users know that their accounts have not been hacked when they get that message .

    i always run older operating systems . they are better . and i want to know when they fail .

    moving accounts from os to os on steam is a real feat . good luck .

    and good luck hacking an older machine that isnt running all the stuff hackers use to get to you .

    newer machines are high risk .

    its a waste of a better os to stop supporting them .the machines they just destroyed are astronomical in numbers .

    bad for the planet ainz .

    do not keep data on a machine that plays online games .

    no antivirus no defender no volume shadow copy no vpn no incription .

    a real machine .

    you cant log into steam and post ... its broken . and steam did not do it .

    not really. i did it on 4 machines over the last 5 years and had 0 problems with that (win 8.1 to 10, win 10 to 11)

    there's a simple way to disprove your claim: there's a total of 600 CVEs for Windows 11 and a total of 2369 for Windows 7. no surprise when you remember that win 7 doesn't get any security patches since 2020.

    since windows 10 needs less resources than win 7, your argument about the "machines they just destroyed" is kinda odd. ofc they could update windows since Windows for Workgroups 3.1 but this would cost a lot more money than just building a new one. idk how you think that's working but even if they didn't create new OS like win 11 but update the old OS, it's nearly the same for the user.

    in fact not spending ressources to support outdated os anymore is better for the environment :)

    most likely because your pc is hacked the moment you connect to the internet xD old os is kinda common but no antivirus? that's wild :D

    it was a nice post but ainz sure seems to know a lot about hacking and moving accounts .

    so much so he felt the need to post and do a bunch of copy paste stuff

    an unprotected operating system ran just fine for over a decade big shot .

    it didnt need all that bloat ware cause i aint afraid cause i dont hack nothin and never have .


    hackers all have a few things in common . they all run anti virus they run defender and they are all afraid of getting hacked and obsessed with security .


    we have been scanning our servers . they are very clean .an unprotected os is in no danger unless you dowload a lot of hack stuff .or connect to malicious vpns or web sites and click exe files .


    microsoft made changes not steam . thanks for participating in the conversation about steam locking windows 7 because microsoft happened .


    even the porn sites are safe i checked . no trojans or viruses to be had .

    it um .. lagged the internet on a global scale but i checked it lol .

    I can hardly believe that I was baited into starting a virtual Windows 7 machine because of this thread in order to log into Steam. Everything works without any problems and back on my normal PC with Windows 11 everything works perfectly too (quite a shame actually... I was really hoping for a "helping people to help themselves" feature from Steam)

    oh and idk about the "wish me luck moving my steam account to windows ten as i was also having problems doing even that"... you just have to download the launcher and log in^^



    to make it quick: i worked for 6 years as cyber security analyst in a ~20k employe company. so yes, i know a bit about that topic because i had to patch all the vulnerabilities. i don't have any knowlege in hacking (or in a more corporate way 'pen testing') but even without my career my common sense would've alerted me, that running "an unprotected operating system" ... "for over a decade" isn't a good thing xD


    what do you think hackers want from normal ppl like us? just to destroy their system? why shouldn't they do that? usually they try to get your data (financiall account, sometimes even other accounts like social media, game account, your mail,...). if you're lucky they just sell your data. your pc can also become part of a bot net which will you get sooner or later in bigger trouble. (you know the spam bots from different e-mail adresses/account? those are from ppl like you and they don't know that their accounts were used till they got shut down)



    but back to the topic: you can try to contact the steam support to get your account back but since it's no general problem, it's the wrong place in this forum^^

    This is interesting, because I'm running actual Windows 7, and as of the last update Steam not only does not launch, but hard locks my PC. I'm accessing this forum from my browser.

    Since Neither Game Forge nor Rune Waker have anything to do with Steam except offering access to the game there, perhaps you should take this to the Steam forum if there is one.

    both gameforge and runewalker have something to do with steam by running the game on steam .


    if you read the posts i posted you will see the only way to enter the forum is through browser when these problems occur . its account dependent . it has to be logged in to do it.

    ive been trying for 8 hours to restore my account , i managed to restore 1 alt account of course its not my runes of magic account and does not have my main for DKOnline .

    1 account showed the correct email the other did not .


    i was already seeing the wrong email for the account yet i could still see it log in correctly before it locked my machine , and its not the first time i have seen it .


    its why you never log out of steam you turn off the steam exe instead or you will have these problems with verification .


    the mages on the missing account have tons of gear they put in the mart for prices so low they cant go any lower because they are already as low as hey can go !

    and on all servers .


    it is in the best interest of all parties involved that steam functions properly .

    time to lose steam .


    the steam platform is not viable or conducive to good gameplay when it does not function properly .

    we just lost gear because of it , and toons , and resources .


    ive uninstalled steam on this drive .im trying to make windows ten into a real machine but its just not good enough to do it .


    microsoft is creating an information black hole . not the kind in space that do not really exist because space has no properties , but the real kind that makes information ... disappear .

  • If you go to the individual account web page you can disconnect the account from Steam and log through the Gameforge launch app. I don't know how to get to that page except by starting to buy diamonds, the stop before it goes all the way. YOu can send a support ticket to ask how to get to the account page. Then you won't need Steam to play RoM.

    earlier i tried to log into a steam forum account , i had all of my info on a sticky note , i could not get my email ...

    the reason why ? i used a different email ... lol , i have no idea why i used my real email for steam . my advise is check any alt email accounts for the email for lineage 2 from ncsoft . you never know until you try . good luck .

  • This is not a RoM-related issue, just grossly negligent behaviour.


    Windows 7 is no longer supported and should not be used for personal or work devices.


    By continuing to use an outdated OS you are putting the security of your own data at risk as well as adding to the danger for all others on the internet.


    As such, I implore you to upgrade. Don't do it for me, for the people in this forum, or the sick children in the hospital who's life saving surgery had to be postponed because the hospitals IT got ransomwared in a botnet attack your device was a part of - just do it for yourself. Please.


    Since there is nothing that GF or the members of this forum can do for you, I will be locking this thread.
