I had a similar issue. Installing the wowmap addon helped me. Certainly not perfect, but quite playable. A little later, after regular maintenance, this problem disappeared.

At first we'd need to know if you're talking about the interface or the icons above NPC's heads. They disappear once you are 10 or more levels above the quest level.
If it's about the interface, restart your pc once in a while. (Use the restart option, not shut down)
