steam updated their chat/voice ui yesterday, it's pretty cool, will be super easy to build decent pub raids and voice groups on the fly in steam rom with this new update.

Hi, new player here, and I tried to google my problem before taking it to you guys, and actually found a thread on this forum about it but when I clicked on it it redirected me to a page about the game's upcoming steam release.
So here's my problem. The launcher was running fine at first and I was even able to run the game but despite entering my username and password correctly the game said there was an error when I was inputting them and wouldn't let me log in to the US servers. Figuring the problem might be that I'm in Canada, I switched my region to Europe, and the game gave me a whole bunch of german servers. I was hoping to be able to play the game with English speakers though, so I again exited and switched my region to Australia. When I logged in this time, the game said my region didn't match the servers or something, so I decided I'd go back to the European region, and quit. But now I can't open the launcher. Every time I try I get an error message that says "can't download ClientUpdate.zip"
how can I fix this and switch the launcher back to the one region that seems to work without problems?
hi, i think you may have registered an en account instead of a us account, and that may be why you can only login to european servers.

try to register a us.rom account and see if it wil let you play on us servers.

steam achievements would be great.
i do not know if there will be any achievements with steam.
we will inform you of any new news as soon as we can.
go for steam cards, profile backgrounds, steam badges, steam achievements.
think about doing this for rom on steam.
millions of steam gamers love hunting cards and achievements.

it is a very epic tool to have on steam client! especially for a vast mmorpg like rom.
currently there is not 1 guide on there.

I have a question about the Steam servers... Will players using the old non-Steam client be able to use the new servers? Or will we be required to use the Steam RoM Client to use the new servers?
on the rom steam forum, cm celes says we'd have to re-install the game through the steamclient.

Just a thought here- US accounts cannot log into European servers and vice versa. There was a reason at one time but I think that it is probably a long gone thing. I would like to see all accounts being able to log in THROUGH Steam onto the new steam server. Not necessarily to play the existing toons, but new toons on that server without setting up another account/username/password.
yeah. some truth to that, made 3 accounts (EN) trying to login to (US) before realizing was making European ROM accounts and not USA ROM accounts..
figured it out after few trys. lol
