Even with runewaker still being rubbish, this game could still have a much larger playerbase, gameforge pushed a large majority of players away. This is obvious due to the fact there is still new players coming in, but most quit when they reach near max level due to how expensive it is.

I am not complaining that I am not getting feedback. Quite the contrary, I get a lot of it and it is really useful (that is the reason why I am actively diskussing and not just posting prepared replies) . That beating around the bush is related to #47
You are right, there have so far been not many straight answers that I gave. I don't want to promise anything that I cannot deliver. Your feedback is heard, and is used in discussions we have.
That we have no clue about the gameplay.. well. First, most changes around the gameplay are done by Runewaker. That they don't know their one game...well. I have very little clue about the gameplay, that is true, our gamedesigners do however. As we have been successfully running this game for almost 10 years you might also consider that we might know aspects of the game that you can't see and that we are not entirely useless.ok, i can understand that the new content etc is done by runewaker regardless of what our / your desire might be. But a game that stagnates for over 1 year ... well..
But there are some areas that is depending on GameForge alone to do, and i really hope we can see some improvements in this:
- You guys control the IS / Pricing (wont go over this again, cause i`m sure you have all the feedback in the past week for it)
- Would like to see more involvement from the staff in the game (in game events! must be like 2 years since last event)

Well, questions ingame events I can easily answer since they are run by us volunteer teamlers:
Is basicly the same as anywhere else, we do not have enough people in our team to actually run events and simultaneously do more important tasks. With so few people it's close to a full time job if we would do all the tasks everyone here is requesting. And I already have a job, which grants me the ability to pay my electricity bill in order to be here in my free time

On the Germany side I got some heat for the first part of the AMA because I did not answer underlying hidden questions. I would prefer it a lot if you asked the questions you want answered instead of beating around the bush.
The real question here seems to be "Don't you see that the Upgrade System of RoM is way to expensive? " To that question I would say, what is too expensive? To expensive is a price no one is willing to pay. Or way more would be willing to pay if the prices are lower.
Personally, I think that the upgrade system could do with some rework. We are discussing in many directions there, but, you have been promised many things in the past that did not happen, so I will not promise anything untill we are done with the decission and most of the implementation. Even then I would put a question mark behind it, RoM being RoM and it would not be the first time something breaks in the last second.
When I saw this question the first time I was really annoyed, tbh. It was not directed at "the game is too expensive" it was directed at "can you Idiot even multiply" and "I know the answer, but are you smart enough to figure it out as well?"
What use would my answer be? The guy with the question already knows. Will it be enough if i solve the most difficult equation in that list, the first one by stating that 3280/40*35=2870? Or is it more that if I add up all possible Promos together that I will end up at a price that has nothing to do with the normal pricing? So many questions..

The question "dont you think the game is too expensive" has been asked in the past 10 years several times with no answer.
As i said we players don't know if you realize how much expensive this game is. And yes, 70% of the players who left the game "would be willing to pay if the price are lower": consider it as a direct feedback from quitters.
Also so sad that the day after we asked you about this game cost in this thread, dias have become more expensive.

The valuable part is their core concerns, but I don't think it's being hidden in any way because it's been the same for years:
The community doesn't feel confident that Gameforge understands how their pricing model related to gear progression has outpriced segments of the community and contributed to population decline. Many believe the lack of understanding comes from the fact that the key decision makers are too far removed from the game itself and don't have in-game context for sales decisions. Limited staff presence in the game reinforces this belief. (Which is why everyone is so wrapped up in your in-game experience, hoping you will see what they see.)

"More would be willing to pay if the prices are lower" is an avenue worth exploring at any time. Only wealthy people can afford high prices, so your consumer base in that scenario decreases. Lower prices open up affordability to more people, so your consumer base in that scenario increases. I've heard many people complain about being priced out due to rising prices, but I've never heard wealthy people complain about getting lower prices.
Also thank you for your time to be responsive to us. This community often reads like a brand crisis/community crisis every day. The volunteers on the forum are basically doing crisis management work every day. It's been multiple severe breaches of trust and confidence over the years that weren't properly rectified and it added up to become what it is now. From the more passionate posters, remember that they are this way because part of them still loves and cares about this community and this game; that has value. If they didn't have anything they loved, they would not feel any anger or bitterness over this.I feel more detached than I was in previous years because I'm only parroting back the same things I've said before, but without the emotional investment. My signature should just say "I'm old and I'm tired", but you never know... maybe on the 10th try something comes of all this...

The often asked promo was indeed a reason why we had the promo now and have not waited till the item prices were adjusted.

Phelan if you want, I can bring you up to date to what majority of players would like to see different and is actually reasonable (without the hate speeching) within 10 minutes on discord or onlinegamesnet. You can ask me questions about how it is to be endgame player and stuff you would like to know. Might help a bit with understanding the situation from a long term player.

The truth usually is somewhere in between. Rest assured that you have one more guy fighting for a more affordable upgrade system on your side. Nothing is final, but we are thinking in many directions. One thing, you may choose to believe it or not, raising the prices is not something we intend to do. What we will do is cut the difference between promo and non promo days.
I'm definitely oversimplifying for the sake of this discussion being public-facing. There are many moving parts to consider, especially at the stage the game is and with the existing community being smaller than it was in previous years. If the community was larger, the burden of costs could be better distributed, but that's not what you have to work with right now. The hope is for a path where GF is able to continue making good revenue from RoM, while keeping the game content accessible by keeping the gear progression as affordable as possible for as many players as possible.
I don't recall that I've ever personally believed price increases were intentional in a malicious manner. I think it happens because businesses need to make a profit in order to survive, I think inflation plays a role, and I think this product in particular was constructed from the beginning to become more expensive over time. Some of that can be influenced or countered by sales decisions...other aspects, maybe not. We'll see. -

I can tell you some aprox numbers too. I play this game since 2009, but not all the time in these servers. I came back to GF servers in june 2017, and in order to get an endgame PvE and PvP char i bought in the next year around 200,000 dias (I used to be F2P player back in the days, but now i don't have the time for that, and i like the game so i didn't care spend some money if i could get fun). Some items cost me even 4000 dias only to plus from +16 to +20, and i've never tried plusing anything over +25 (and ofc only ring, neckale, pants, upper body and main weapon over +20).
Things that i saw that work really well were diamonds in AH and items permanently in the IS. That with a fair price for diamonds, periodic updates (preferently more than 1 instance per year) and keeping an eye for the fair play is good enough to keep the players playing and the servers alive (and make something with siege wars would be great, over 8 years in beta lol).
I quit buying dias 4-5 months ago cause Ibergard is a tomb for endgame players. I pretty much play just to kill world bosses and keep filling my bank with proofs of myth, and to register SW against alter guild to someday (maybe 5-6 months from now, getting 13 badges per day) I can finally get ironblood will title, since there are no ingame events to get some badges (yes, new players have to wait around 2 years to have the same dmg bonus than old players... 2 years). I was now waiting a promo to buy some dias and at least get transport runes and maybe some consumables, cause thats all i see attractive in IS right now, but what i've found? Now for the same money you get 25% less dias... so, if all i can do is kill wb solo (zzzzz), put proofs in my bank (probably i will never use them), register empty sw in order to get 1 title after more than 18 months, and GF still wants more money from me, i guess is the moment to just let this game die and go to play minesweeper, is more dynamic and actually free.

It looks like some prices changed. One of our polish players Zeno made a post about it. Yes it's in polish, but you'll recognize the items by their icon. Anything with two prices listed has had a price drop.

So we get less rubys too lol and why has for example +30 accessory jewels gone up from 26 to 30 diamonds?
I mean ruby are so hard to get already and you need them since some items are only for ruby
It is also one thing we have brought up that the ruby nerff was not ok to begin with and you have now made them even more rare.

Hm. Sure, I could reinstall the game in English, do some multiplication, some division come to a number and post it here. Then I would have proved to be capable of some basic calculations, and all would be happy. I won't jump though all hoops that you dangle in front of me, sorry.
On the Germany side I got some heat for the first part of the AMA because I did not answer underlying hidden questions. I would prefer it a lot if you asked the questions you want answered instead of beating around the bush.
The real question here seems to be "Don't you see that the Upgrade System of RoM is way to expensive? " To that question I would say, what is too expensive? To expensive is a price no one is willing to pay. Or way more would be willing to pay if the prices are lower.
Personally, I think that the upgrade system could do with some rework. We are discussing in many directions there, but, you have been promised many things in the past that did not happen, so I will not promise anything untill we are done with the decission and most of the implementation. Even then I would put a question mark behind it, RoM being RoM and it would not be the first time something breaks in the last second.
When I saw this question the first time I was really annoyed, tbh. It was not directed at "the game is too expensive" it was directed at "can you Idiot even multiply" and "I know the answer, but are you smart enough to figure it out as well?"
What use would my answer be? The guy with the question already knows. Will it be enough if i solve the most difficult equation in that list, the first one by stating that 3280/40*35=2870? Or is it more that if I add up all possible Promos together that I will end up at a price that has nothing to do with the normal pricing? So many questions..
But really.. here in the forum, while I am here.. let's not play games but communicate openly. Way more productive for you and me.I've been here since 2010 (though mostly inactive now), and although the upgrade system for equipment includes alot of costs that total to "too much" for most people, the one that has caused the most anger for people is usually plussing jewels. They are basically required to play this game (you can't be competitive in PvE without at least +16 on weapons and accessories, probably even higher now that +30's are here), and people have to pay real money for them to watch these jewels fail and make your gear worse. That's the biggest frustration - PAYING real money to watch the jewels fail, and they fail ALOT.
If you really want to make this game more playable for the average player, make it cheaper to get an item to +16 at the very least. Making perfect +12 jewels and perfect +16 jewels (at cheap prices) will go a long way making people less annoyed at the upgrade system. Having to plus an item is also one of the biggest reasons why people don't want to upgrade to higher level gear. making plussing affordable (and normal mode rewarding enough to play), will actually give regular players who can't run hardmode something to do.

that's probably the biggest nonsense I've ever read. For 19 diamonds you got 2 rubies. Now for 15 diamonds 1 rubi. Now I have to spend 30 diamonds for 2 Rubis. What's so hard to understand ? And how about when the team does not always support GF's side, but also makes themself strong for the players. That would be something.

As far i can see, rubies obtained are still 1/10 of dias price, so is still a problem.
Generally dias price went down of a 20% (at least for more important items); since dias cost with so 30% generous promo is 20% less of what old 140% used to be, price should be balanced if im not wrong.
Considering two big BUT:
1) dias promo is frequent like or kinda like old one was
2) Item Shop promos for same items are good (in %) as old ones
If both this condition will not be respected, the Math says GF has risen the cost for Runes of Magic players despite all the wishes and dedications to fight for a more affordable game.
