After starting the Gameforge client on a Win 11 PC via a Runes of Magic shortcut and then pressing the play button on Runes of Magic, I sometimes get a Windows error of cannot find 'launcher.exe'. After repeat attempts of hitting the play button, then it seems to magically work. I used to be able to tolerate doing 1 or 2 repeats, but now it seems to be getting worse requiring many more attempts before the system seems to 'find' the exe. ![]()
Within the Runes of Magic shortcut link that was installed, it shows this URL location:
gfclient://view?game=dd7f99fe-264a-4259-8ef0-da6d482e2b76
Going to the folder where the game was installed (C:\Program Files (x86)\Runes\RunesOfMagic), clicking on Client.exe, RoMLauncer.exe, and Runes of Magic.exe does not start the Gameforge client (nor the game). There certainly is no 'launcher.exe' that exists here. Upon going to the folder where Gameforge was installed (C:\Program Files (x86)\GameforgeClient), I don't see any 'launcher.exe' either.
I've attempted to reinstall the game, but that didn't work...
Under the System variables section of Environment Variables on the system, I tried adding both paths above to see if that would help (and have restarted the PC), but no luck doing that either...
The goal -
Hitting play button will start the game without ever having to keep trying.
