  • Many thanks to you for the work you put into maintaining the Wiki and keeping it up to date.

Now, maybe it's just me, but do these summer events seem a bit, er, lacklustre compared to last year?

A bit, yeah. It is definitely aimed only at the end-gamer whales to keep them from getting bored. I would wish for some special activities that younger toons can enjoy.

  • What about that event is aimed 'only' for end-gamer?^^

prod and III runes -> not really end-game (guild matts aren't end-game at all xD)

    pantheon -> not end-game
nom -> maybe a bit end-game but that ini isn't really hard anymore. most guilds can do that same as many random partys^^

exp events (with low exp values) -> not end-game (we have enough tp xD)

bunker peak exp -> not end-game (we already have p20 xD)

Bedim (lvl 77) and kashaylan (lvl 92) -> sure, end-gamer love pom's but to farm those coins, you can be lvl 77 xD

we are a bit overstimulated in terms of our expectations from 2020-2022. back then gf had no real content to offer so we got a loooooot of gifts xD rn it's not bad at all but way less and so we feel that it's kinda bad

sure, i wouldn't say 'no' to more/bigger gifts/exchanges/values but hey... it's good even when it feels as it isn't xD

  • What about that event is aimed 'only' for end-gamer?^^

prod and III runes -> not really end-game

How many level III runes do you expect a level 56 player to have collected so they might take part in the event?

What about a level 34 player?

Not everyone at level 77 is capable of running that level 77 content.

Not everyone at level 100 and doing Peak quests is capable of running that level 77 content.

The gear-sets from quests certainly make is possible to play the open-world content but it takes some time to gear-up and be capable of playing higher-level dungeons.

Having special drops should apply game-wide so that everyone can take part, similar to what we just had in the Spring event.

    since

    • it'll take you around 2 weeks without an exp event to reach lvl 100 and
    • low lvl player (<lvl 100) often don't even know that an event is happening

i wouldn't make events especially for them. that doesn't mean that they should be excluded but a lvl 56 player has almost the same chances of farming III runes as a lvl 100 player. (and up to lvl 56 isn't even a matter of days but rather of a few hours)

when you're capable of questing in chassizz (which isn't hard) you're also capable of doing bedim almost solo. with lvl 77 and lvl 77 gear not solo ofc but this is a mmo... most of the content requieres more than one player^^

and still: nothing you mentioned has anything to do with "end game". i wouldn't content below lvl 100 even consider mid game.

only two of the events are mid game focused and those're the bunker peak exp thing and the special drops in nom and pantheon. all other events are for literally everyone that plays rom for at least 3h xD

  • when you're capable of questing in chassizz (which isn't hard) you're also capable of doing bedim almost solo.

    Yeah, right...

I'd love to see a new level 100 player doing Bedim solo. The gear you get whilst questing just isn't as powerful as you think!

(and up to lvl 56 isn't even a matter of days but rather of a few hours)

Even following the higher XP questlines in Coast of Opportunity and Xaviera, you'll take more than a few hours to get to level 50.

trashmobs in bedim have less hp, deff and atk then normal mobs in chassizz xD the bosses are a bit more of a struggle but with lvl 100 only special attacks will hit you at all (b2 should be the only boss that make you struggle) and with a matching class (selfheal or tanky) this is also no problem.

bedim is by far more easy to solo with bad gear than f.e. grafu xD

Even following the higher XP questlines in Coast of Opportunity and Xaviera, you'll take more than a few hours to get to level 50.

since i leveled a new char with the new player experience thing: it takes an experienced player from 1-50 in ~1,5h and from 50 to 100 ~25h without additional gear and without an exp event.

lets say a new player takes 4x the time (which is really exaggerated): 6h to lvl 50

sorry after i wouldn't make events especially for ppl that don't even play long enough to even realise what events are xD

I'd love to see the raw & unedited video of you making levels 1-50 in Coast of Opportunity & Xaviera in ~90 minutes.

The questlines there take a lot longer than that to complete, and even with the New Player Experience, you'll need to be half-way around Xaviera before you hit 50.

  • the thing is that the npe offers good enough gear that you don't have to worry about mobs in any kind or form (even elite mobs in xaviera and cost of opportunities aren't a problem solo). so up to lvl 50 you wouldn't get a huge benefit even if a high lvl char would help.

plus you get mounts and movement speed buffs for mounts in the early lvls so even the time between quests is reduced by a lot.

plus you have an permanent quest exp buff (50%) which allows you to hit lvl 50 in the first half of xaviera even without an exp event (with an exp event it's even faster)

without the npe: the biggest struggle is to get to cost of opportunities and to achieve that you need 2 classes at lvl 20 irrc. this will take a lot of time alone (old zones offer way less exp than coo and you don't have that 50% quest exp buff)

so the old way i assume it'll take around 1.5h alone to level to 20/20 and another 2h to lvl 50 if you're experienced. (i did that years ago when an exp event was active and even that took me like 2h to lvl 50 and most the time was needed in howling mountains and silverspring)

so... yeah npe makes a huge difference but this feature is active for long enough that even the last player that created a char before the npe, would've reached lvl 50 till now^^

oh and sorry, i won't waste time and make a video about that^^ same as the idea of offering temporary events especially for player below lvl 50, it's simply not worth spending any time on that xD

  • I don't think I would make it in ~90 minutes either but new player experience is indeed a big boost. I have started it myself but questing bores me out easily. :whistling:

Even with the boosts, I still stall out in the 60's, but 1-60 was very fast and fun.

  • I have started it myself but questing bores me out easily. :whistling:

Just as a counterpoint- I started playing specifically for questing, but now after 15years I can't really advance my toons' gear doing that, so grinding and ini's is the only thing left, and i struggle to keep myself engaged.

  • Simply that it's not as much fun as questing. Sometimes I will be grinding in TOS for xp and level 100 blue and green gear (tier stone mats). I will tell myself that I will stay for two hours but give up after one. Sometimes I only make a couple runs and say, never mind. It's just not as interesting as questing, even if I've run six or eight toons through the same quests.

When you compare the current Taborea world map to previous versions, it is clear that Runewaker made room in the middle of the map for a new continent. They did that just a few moths before they burdened us with the peak system. If you open up a level 100 character's class list, it still shows how much XP is needed to reach level 101, even at Peak 20. I don't see a problem with "rewarding" people for getting to 20 by creating a new set of zones that allow you to level up your skills. A few skills could be limited to 100, just as a few are now limited to 50. THese new zones would only be available to peak 20 characters, giving folks motivation to push through the massive grind to get there.

Just an idea. IT would of course require either Runewaker getting motivated or taking over development, tech support, and maintenance by Gameforge. GF is at a disadvantage as a publisher only. It puts them at a disadvantage compared to companies that both develop and publish their own games.
