  • Hi guys :)

I played RoM a few years ago and am mainly interested in the older content (primarily instances).

I'm interested in an “oldschool” or “classic” project, similar to the one described here in this thread:

    Project Hardcore

Unfortunately, as far as I know, the project is no longer running and I don't know of any currently running projects.

I have thought about the following restrictions (and was also inspired by the previous projects) to keep the entry hurdle as low as possible:

    - max. 4 clean values per item (2 dirty values are allowed)

    - max. 2 levels above the original item level

    - max. +2 for each item

    - Maximum level allowed depending on the content of the chapter we want to play

    - CoO/Xaviera allowed

I would be happy if someone would be enthusiastic about this!

If not, then at least I've tried it :)

  • 6 clean stats have always been possible. The vendor white gear has room for 6. There have always also been things in the AH to clean the blue and above gear. CoO and Xav were originally intended to be an accelerated leveling area for 3rd class, not new toons.

  • you should also considering restriction of
    - pets (pets they were introduced 2012 (lvl >65 iirc)
    - runes (X runes are way too op for lower levels)

    - tier values (a lvl 50 weapon t13 is way above anything that was used back then

    - use of cards (esp. dmg cards)

    - use of titles (sw titles and so on)

    - use of stats in general... even one of the current highest stats is waaaaaay too strong than green/yellow stats that were available in chapter 1-3

    - quest gear (npcs that give you gear f.e. in Weeping Coast were implemented in chapter 4

    - use of elite skill quests (the xaviera ones make it kinda ez)

    - zone restrictions (xaviera will give way more exp than old zones

    and a few more^^

  • Thank you :) I am not about keeping it 100% accurate like it was back then. My main focus is running the instaces from chapters 1-3 on the right level with gear that is comparable to gear we had back then. How we get that gear (qeusting gear from CoA, instances, etc.) does not really matter for me.

I am just looking for people to run instances on level without being overpowered.

IMO that is something to easily do as a side project since you can quickly and cheaply pimp low level gear with for example some temple stats.

The restriction should be focussed on the level and the stats (MATT, PATT, HP, MDEF, PDEF) and not focussed on making the path to that point harder as it has to be :)

You are contradicting yourself in the first two sentences here. You are already talking about doing things that weren't available then. CoO was added with third class capability when Redhills was added at level 65. It was obviously possible to run the first three chapter instances with the available gear. IF you run ALL the quests and get gear from world bosses that was available, then that is using the gear that was available then. There was decent blue gear sets from instances and purple crafted gear that was actually superior to instance gear. That's what you should be using.

  • "That's what you should be using."

That is a totally legit point. I am just afraid that putting 100 hours into a single level 50-55 char with some gear is not what most people are willing to do.

If it is possible to run lvl 50-55 instances with CoA/Xaviera gear, I am totally fine with that (have not tried it yet, but could be possible I think).

  • Nope. Cannot be done. You can get higher level toons to drag you through, but for instances like Cyclops Lair, it will affect the drops. You can legitimately craft great level fifty gear to solo level 35 and 40 instances, but it would take a small group of people at that level and equally equipped to get the gear drops. There is a great set of orange level 50 chain and plate gear that can be obtained from Scion Locface in the tower of wailing wind. Anselve drops cloth level 45. She is spawned by killing the winter spiders in Ystra. Aisha drops healer cloth and leather. Worr Binpike drops weapons. In Mystic Alter there are level 43 blue sets that work well. Ruins of the Ice Dwarf Kingdom at level 50 will give accessories and weapons with level appropriate yellow stats(level 5). There are several others you can research using the "Dungeon Loots" add-on.

Maybe you can join a large guild and see if some of them might be willing to take on the challenge. The current sate of the endgame is just running instances and building gear. Someone might be bored enough to join you.
